I claimed that armrest the second I sat down, and I will defend it like a castle wall until we land. Middle seat people get the armrests? I never signed that treaty, and my elbow has already unpacked and gotten comfortable.

I hit reply-all to say "Thanks!" because all 340 coworkers deserved to know how grateful I was. Communication is important, and now the entire company knows I am polite, responsive, and slightly bad at email.

I said "just one more episode" at 10 p.m., and the sunrise is honestly the show's fault for ending on a cliffhanger. The streaming service asked if I was still watching, and I proudly clicked yes like a champion.

The escalator is a moving staircase, so why would I walk when the stairs are doing all the work? I am standing on the left because that's where the view is better, and the people behind me can enjoy the slow ride too.

The cart corral was four whole parking spaces away, and I had frozen peas melting in the trunk. I left the cart gently nestled against a light pole, which is basically a corral if you squint and believe in yourself.

Everyone stared at that last slice for twenty minutes, so I simply did what nobody else had the courage to do. I am not rude, I am a hero who saved that pizza from going cold and lonely in the box.

I left one perfect sip in the carton, so technically we still have milk and I don't have to buy more. It's not empty, it's a gift for the next person, and I put it back in the fridge with love.

I just need to point out that I totally saw that twist coming, and also, wasn't he in that other movie? My commentary is free bonus content, and honestly everyone in row F should be thanking me for the director's cut.

The button is right there on my armrest, which means the airline personally wants me to lean back. I paid for this seat, all three inches of tilt included, and the person behind me can use my headrest as a pillow.

I put the empty cereal box back on the shelf because the pantry looks fuller and happier that way. Recycling is a big commitment, and I like to leave little surprises for whoever gets hungry next.

I texted "on my way" while still in my pajamas, because mentally I was already in the car. It's called positive thinking, and my sneakers were at least looking toward the door when I hit send.

I circled the lot nine times for that front-row spot, and now I've earned the right to stroll like I'm on vacation. A line of cars waiting for me to get in is basically a parade in my honor.

I read your text, I loved your text, and I replied to it in my head with something really clever. The read receipt is my way of saying "message received," which is honestly more than a lot of people get.

One dip simply doesn't get enough salsa on a chip that is already half gone, so a second visit is just good engineering. I'm not double-dipping, I'm finishing what I started, and the bowl understands me.

I took the last two ice cubes, and putting the tray back empty is basically a team-building exercise. Somebody else gets to be the hero who fills it up, and I am very generous about sharing that honor.

The wheels touched down and I was already up, bent sideways under the overhead bin like a determined question mark. Nobody is getting off yet, but I'll be emotionally ready first, and that's what really matters.

Leftover salmon is healthy, delicious, and needs exactly two minutes in the office microwave, so I'm not going to apologize. If the whole floor smells like a seaside adventure by noon, you're welcome for the free vacation.

The sign says 15 items or fewer, but six yogurts are clearly one item called "yogurt." By my very fair math I have about nine things, and the cashier and I both know I'm the fastest customer here.

I put my aunt on speaker in the grocery line because my phone is too precious to hold against my ear. Now everyone gets to hear all about her new garden gnome, and frankly they seem more interested than I am.

The label said "Dave," but it didn't say "Do Not Eat," so legally I see a loophole. That pasta salad was sitting there lonely and unloved, and I simply gave it the happy ending Dave never would.

Typing is hard, so I sent a cozy one-minute voice memo that includes my dog barking and a long "ummm" in the middle. You could read three words, or you could enjoy my wonderful voice like a little podcast just for you.

I spotted my old neighbor in the cereal aisle and suddenly became very interested in the ingredients on a box of oatmeal. A ten-minute catch-up was not on my list today, and that oatmeal deserved my full attention anyway.
